Imo Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere may have joined his boss, the Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas in a song declaring that good things are happening in Imo as the Federal Government earlier today commissioned 100 units of houses in Naze, Owerri west LGA of Imo State.
Prince Eze Madumere who received a combined team of directors from the office of the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing and Federal Mortage bank led by the Minister of State for Power, works and Housing, Hon Mustapha Baba Shehuri in his office, Government House, Owerri revealed that Imo state for the first time feels secure as part of one Nigeria with Federal government presence being recently felt in the State.
According to the Deputy Governor, "the Housing scheme is apt and what the the State needs at this critical time. Imolites need roofs over their heads. This is giving hope to the middle class earners. For us, it is a commendable effort. My leader and Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is ever ready to continue to partner with the Federal Government is such programmes and projects since it is geared towards making life better for the people of Imo State."
Speaking further, Prince Eze Madumere said the low cost housing estate at Naze will compliment Nneomas’ pet project in the State, which has provided about 200 units of tastefully fully furnished two bedroom apartments for the widows free of charge with financial empowerment.
The Deputy Governor appreciated the succour, which the housing project has provided in for workers in the State, adding that it is part of Okorocha’s blue print and idea of empowerment and job creation, which is derivable from the value chain of the projects.
He thanked the Minister and the Managing Director of the Federal Mortage bank for the proposed packages in the state, pointing Imo State is ready to play a role to ensure its citizenry benefit more out that the proposed 5000 housing units which the Federal Government proposed for the country.
In his address, the Minister of State for Works, Power and Housing, Hon Baba Shehuri said the 100 housing units being commissioned is part of the 5000 Federal Government housing scheme in all the States of the Federation.
According to him, the housing unit is a Private, Public, Partnership ( PPP ) arrangement, which will be affordable to Nigerians especially public servants.
The Minister stated that the Federal Government through the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing has signed a N2 Billion MOU with Shelter Afri ( an African Shelter company ) to build affordable houses for Nigerians, and appealed to Imo state government to take advantage of the scheme.
He commended the government of Imo State for the conducive environment given to the developer to operate in.
Contributing, the Managing Director of Federal Mortage bank, Richard Esin x-rayed the various packages provided by the mortage bank to Nigerians.
Esin said the federal mortage bank is partnering with the ministry of power, works and housing in providing affordable houses for Nigerians, which will also creat job opportunities for the youths.
He said the partnership has kept prices of houses in the country at controlled rate even as he urged the public to avail themselves of the opportunities and packages provided by the federal mortgage bank of Nigeria.
The high point of the event was the joint unveiling and commissioning of the Housing Units in Naze, Owerri West local government of Imo State by the Deputy governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere and the Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, Alhaji Mustapher Baba Shehuri.
