Imo state deputy governor, Prince Eze Madumere yesterday set up a committee for an inter-campus football competition, reiterating the Rescue Mission Government’s determination to rid Imo youths of crimes and other vices through engaging them in sporting activities.
Madumere who performed the inauguration of 19 man committee to ensure the success of Prince Eze Madumere Inter-Campus Football Competition among seven high institutions in the state in his office yesterday said the football competition is designed to give the youth a platform to succeed , keep them away from crimes and unearth hidden talents for development and employment.
According to him, sport is a strong unifying sporting activity in the country, but regretted the dearth of sporting activities in the institutions of higher learning, which used to be a tradition to fish out talents for development.
He pointed out that our higher institutions parade hidden talents and urged investors to join in charting a road map towards development of sports in the universities and other institutes of higher learning.
He advised the committee to ensure the mobilization of all the youths in the higher institutions for the competition .
In his vote of thanks ,the committee chairman and Special Assistant to the Deputy Governor on Special Duties, Hon. Emeka Ajih thanked Prince Madumere for choosing them for such task and promised on behalf of his members to actualize the set objectives . The committee consists of students leaders, Sports Managers & Trainers, Event Managers among others.
The competition tagged Prince Eze Madumere inter campus sport competition is an initiative of Eze Madumere Foundation.
