MADUMERE COMMENDS NSE ON TECHNOLOGY VILLAGE


Imo State Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere has commended the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) for their resolve to build a "Technology Village", assuring them of Owelle Rochas Okorocha led Government support to realize the proposed project.

The Deputy Governor of Imo State made this gesture while receiving in audience the Imo State chapter of NSE led by its Chairman, Engr. Emeka Ugoanyanwu.

Prince Madumere remarked that the proposed Technology Center when realized  will not only serve as a catalyst to technological development in the State but will bring about a quantum leap in the general development of the State thereby creating opportunities for the populace with competing advantages.

He therefore advised the group to partner with Imo Trade and Investment Centre, ‘Imo College of Advanced Professional Studies’, since their input would add value to the work force and the productive sector especially in the areas of comparative advantage.

Speaking further, he assured the group of Engineers of Government's readiness to partner with them and to give them the necessary support to ensure they succeed while calling on them to go the extra mile to train Engineers that will stand up to their counterparts all over the world.

Earlier, the leader of the Group, Engr. Emeka Ugoanyanwu thanked the Deputy Governor for his support and encouragement.

He advocated a strategic partnership with State Government to achieve its infrastructural development agenda.

Engr. Ugoanyanwu also buttressed the vibrancy of the body, which he said could be appreciated through its instituted programmes such as NSE annual lecture series, entrepreneurial development, Radio programme titled; Heartland Engineering Hour among others, which are aimed at developing, assisting engineering entrepreneurs, and bringing indigenous engineering innovations to public knowledge and the industry generally.

Mr. Ugoanyanwu further said they are ready to help in changing the current investment pattern towards much needed manufacturing that are science and technology based. 

He also revealed that the body had concluded plans to build a Technology Village in partnership with two international agencies, which he said has reached advanced level even as he solicited a bus and a land to enable the body, achieve her set goals.

High point of the event was honouring of Deputy Governor of Imo State with Certificate of Goodwill and Support to the Society.
