IMO GOVT DEMANDS MORE POLICE OFFICERS FOR EFFECTIVE POLICING ...AS DIG COMMENDS OKOROCHA'S EFFORT IN CRIME PREVENTION

Imo Government has demanded for the posting of more officers of the Nigeria Police to the State following the growth of its population in geometric progression.
This call was made by the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere who played host to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Research and Planning who is also the DIG Supervising the Nigeria Police, South East Geo-Political zone, Mr. Valentine Ntomchukwu, when paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Government House, Owerri, Imo State.
Prince Madumere who commended the Nigerian Police for their partnership with the State government to achieving a safe Imo said that the call was necessary following the exponential growth in the population of the State, and also in the number of visits to the State following its status as a tourist State.
Speaking further, he explained that Imo government has created an enabling environment so as to make the job easier for the security agencies. He also hinted of the government's effort in mobilising and setting up potent infrastructure to help in effecting policing both at the rural and State levels. he also mentioned some of the potent supporting structures like Imo Security network, Imo Community Watch among others who help in intelligence gathering.
Earlier, DIG Ntomchukwu, on the purpose of his visit, explained he was touring the States of the South East on the directive of the Inspector General of Police to for the supervising DIGs to visit their zones for the purposes of re-engineering the strategies and to think out other strategies to contain new developments in criminality.
He however showered encomium on Owelle Rochas Okorocha led Rescue Mission for its great supporting effort to the police for effective policing and crime prevention.
High point of the visit was the presentation of Plaque of Honour to the Governor of Imo State, which was received by the Deputy Governor.
