COME HOME AND INVEST, MADUMERE CHARGES IMOLITES

The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has called on Imolites to come home and invest, saying that it is only way to reduce unemployment and poverty in any society.

Prince Madumere made the call yesterday while commissioning TEDMAG Agro Industry established by in Umuowa, Orlu local government area of Imo State established by Engr. Theodore Duru yesterday.

The Deputy Governor emphasized the effort of Governor Okorocha’s towards achieving an industrialised Imo through direct and indirect efforts. He said Governor Okorocha in his wisdom bought back Imo Resin Paint and Paper Industry, which have been remodeled for production of electrical appliances and other products.

He also enumerated other efforts of the Government in the area of infrastructural facilities and linking up various communities thereby engendering socio-economic growth in the State. He said; “the State government has done an average of 20 kilometers of Road in the every local government and with the Rural Access and Mobility Project, which will begin soon, we shall be doing about 400 kilometers of Road in the rural communities. Fadama III Additional financing is also a worthwhile project to compliment the effort of the Government in the area of agriculture, agro industry and agribusiness. I therefore commend my brother, Mr. Duru for his great effort and the great people of Umuowa for answering the call to look inward. This effort will not only reduce unemployment but will go a long way to solve the problem of poverty.”

Earlier in his address, Engr. Duru said the birth of his agro industry, which at the moment produces palm oil, palm kernel nuts, garri and starch was in support of Imo State and Federal government resolve to promote indigenous manufacturing industries to conserve scarce foreign exchange and to discourage urban drift.

He thanked Imo Government for identifying with him through the Deputy Governor who was present to commission the Project, describing his visit as inspiring.

He however regretted the high cost of production following the epileptic power supply. He therefore called on the government to do whatever possible to make possible constant power supply, the sector he described as key to unlock the industrial potential of Imo State and Nigeria at large.

High points of the event are the Deputy Governor’s resolve to help the agro company secure a transformer to enable them hook up to the national grid and cutting of Mrs. Duru’s birthday cake, which coincided with the commissioning of the agro industry.
