IMO GOVERNMENT INTRODUCES LGA BASED SECURITY COUNCIL ... CALLS FOR SYNERGY AMONG SECURITY AGENCIES

In bid to sustain and improve further on the positive security status of Imo State, the Governor of Imo state today introduced Local government security council meeting.

Governor Okorocha made this pronouncement during the maiden expanded State Security Council Meeting, which held at Nicks Banquet Hall, Government House, Owerri, Imo State this evening.
The Governor reiterated the need for consistent monthly security council meeting at the local government level. He therefore charge the council, which was chaired by the Deputy Governor to ensure they approach proposed strategies subjected to critical analyses before adoption to ensure effective crime prevention.

In his opening address, Prince Madumere commended the Security Chiefs for their effort in ensuring that Imo State remains safe and secure. He asserted that Imo is tourist destination, which its strategic location has continued to attract all shades of people among most of them are tourists, thereby emphasizing on Owelle Rochas Okorocha's resolve to up the security infrastructure in the State so as to maintain the peaceful and serene status of the State.

Prince Madumere said the meeting was a follow to a far reaching decisions made in the last Security Council Meeting, which held  a fourth night ago where issues of community based security approach was proposed and adopted.

Another domineering issue that dominated the meeting was the call for synergy among the security agencies especially at the grassroots. The local government Chairmen were therefore advised to rise to the occasion by giving the right leadership by collaborating with their  Division Police Officers and Traditional Rulers.

Speaking at the meeting, Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP Chris Ezike, Brigadier Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Brig. General, Hamza Bature, Group Captain Solomon Lazarus of 211 Nigerian Air Force Regiment, Owerri, Commandant, Nigeria Security and Defense Corps,  Imo State Command, Stephen Lar and Deputy Director, DSS and representative of Director of DSS, Emmanuel Esomonu all spoke in one voice to work together to deliver on the task of having a formidable security formation for safe and secure Imo.

In his concluding address, the supervising Chairman of the local government security council, Prince Madumere charged the local government chairmen to ensure they rally round all security agencies and traditional rulers at the local government areas to hold their monthly security council meetings and submit their reports in good time, while assuring that the welfare of the security agencies will remain a priority.
